Last month, an unreleased single and its accompanying music video from late Queen singer Freddie Mercury emerged after more than three decades of hiding in the depths of classic rock storage. The song, “Time Waits For No One”, was originally recorded by Mercury in 1986 as part of the accompanying concept album for a musical of the same name (then simply titled, “Time”). With the song and video finally seeing the light of day in 2019, it’s now been announced that the single will soon receive an official release.According to an announcement shared to the Queen website late last week, “Time Waits For No One” will be released for the first time ever on 7” Vinyl Picture Disc and CD on Friday, July 26th. News of the official release comes after the video earned an impressive 11.5 million views in less than a month after its late arrival to YouTube.

A statement shared with the announcement reads, “‘Time Waits For No One’ shows Freddie Mercury at his most compelling; a completely stripped-down performance, accompanied by just a piano, showcasing one of music’s most beloved and show-stopping voices.”As previously reported, “Time Waits For No One” is a previously unreleased version of “Time” recorded back in 1986 for a musical penned by Dave Clark of British rock group The Dave Clark Five, which many fans will remember as a knock-off version of The Beatles in the “British Invasion” era of pop music. The additional formats will also come with a bonus interview featuring Freddie and Dave Clark.
